NYC Fashion Week

The preparations for next week Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has already started in Bryant Park, not to far away from my apartment. And today I found out that I will be attending one of the shows myself! Pretty incredible since tickets to the shows are near impossible to get a hold of for us mere mortals.

To be continued....

Mui Mui

Mui Mui has a new face for their spring/summer campainge, and it is no one less than Kristen Dunst!

"Founder Miuccia Prada, is hoping that the collaboration with the Hollywood star will strengthen the brand's name in the US as Mui Mui open new boutiques in LA and New York."   (http://www.boxxet.com/Kirsten_Dunst/Kirsten_Dunst_is_New_Face_of_Mui_Mui.1chsro.d)

Belts, Belts, and more Belts!

If it was one thing that most designers agreed on for the spring trend it was to incorporate the belt in their designs. This accessory was seen in most of the runway shows and it was most certainly to be found right over the waist.
The extremely wide belts seen before had now been substituted with smaller and more subtle ones. D&G matched up their leather belts with Gladiator inspired leather sandals. Oscar De La Renta also went with the leather belt but for a completely different look. Basically, this accessory can be pared up with dresses, jackets, skirts and sweaters and used for a handful of different occasions.
A really flattering trend since it enhances every women hourglass form, and the best thing is that you don?t have to spend a fortune to look fashionable.

Get inspired!

Star Struck

"Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal."

(Pamela Vaull Starr)

The stars came out for the ready-to-wear runway show when the designers were showing off their creations for spring 2008. Now, I am not talking about the celebrities sitting in the front rows of the big designer name. This year stars were also featured as one of the hottest details in the runways shows!

They were seen at Chanel where Karl Lagerfeld had incorporated them with the colors of the American flag, giving his designs a very patriotic feel.

Stars were also seen at Yves Saint Laurent as big chunky necklaces and as small details on the designer shoes. Even Matthew Williamson the creative director for Emilio Pucci used stars in the Pucci prints, and here again stars was used as necklace details.

So expect to see a lot of star detailing in the stores for 2008!

new york new york

With a population of more than 1.600.000 people all confinde into a area of 87.5 km², Manhattan is Americas most densed city. In other words it is the best place for "people watching". There are as many styles as there are languages spoken on the streets of Manhattan. Taking a winter walk through the city you run into your average business suits, Upper East Side ladies walking their designer handbags and like I did the other day, a lady that took the 80s trend a bit to litteral, all this just between 5th and 6th Avenue.
Manhattans population is not the only source of inspiration.  This city is full of beatiful and unique architecture. It reminds me alot of Stockholm, which is much appreciatet after spending 3 years in Los Angeles where the oldest buildings are about 50 years old...

And of course we also have Central Park when you need to be closer to mother natures own designs. And just a few blocks south of that is a few of the best creations this town has to offer, sure you can find them in other cities around the world...but there is something special about the ones in New York, it is like watching an animal roam free in its natural habitat and not in a cage. Ofcourse I am talking about the 8th wonders......Chanel, Versace, Dior and Louis Vittion...just to mention a few of my dearest friends ;)

XOXO
